Microsoft Foundry is the new provider integration that replaces the Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Foundry integrations. It follows Microsoft’s direction to unify its AI services under a single Foundry resource. It is generally available in TrueFoundry v0.175.0. Migrating takes two parts: update the resource in Azure, then create a Microsoft Foundry provider account in TrueFoundry.

Part 1: Update the resource in Azure

Hub and hub-based resources

A hub or hub-based project cannot be migrated. The Microsoft Foundry integration does not support these resources.

Azure AI Foundry resources

This path is for an Azure AI Foundry account whose Azure resource is a Foundry resource, not a hub.
1

Open the account overview

In the Azure Portal, open the list of resources and click on the resource of type Foundry. Then, click on Overview.

Click on Get Started

3

Follow the steps

Complete the steps in the upgrade flow. When it finishes, the account is a Microsoft Foundry account.

Part 2: Create a Microsoft Foundry account in TrueFoundry

Upgrading the resource in Azure does not change your existing Azure OpenAI or Azure AI Foundry provider account in TrueFoundry. Create a new Microsoft Foundry provider account for the upgraded resource.
1

Create the provider account

Add a Microsoft Foundry account with the resource’s OpenAI endpoint, the project endpoint, and your authentication method. See Add a Microsoft Foundry account for the full steps.
2

Add or discover deployments

Use model discovery to import your deployments from the project endpoint, or add them manually.
3

Point your applications at the new account

Gateway model IDs use the format <provider-account-name>/<integration-name>. If you give the new account and its integrations the same names as the old ones, existing clients keep working unchanged. Otherwise, update the model IDs in your applications. See Call a Microsoft Foundry model.
4

Remove the old account

After you confirm requests work through the new account, remove the old Azure OpenAI or Azure AI Foundry provider account.
